Ascham School, situated on 4.4 hectares of beautiful grounds near Sydney Harbour, has provided a shining example of the education of girls and young women since its foundation in 1886. Ascham is a Prep to Year 12 day and boarding school, with no religious affiliation, that provides a strong academic program within a warm, welcoming environment.

Ascham’s consistently outstanding HSC results are achieved through the Dalton Plan. We are the only school in Australia to use the unique Dalton Plan and it sits at the heart of our teaching and learning. This plan provides girls with an extraordinary skill set, not only for school but also in preparing them for life beyond the school gates.

Students flourish within our liberal arts curriculum and take advantage of extensive co-curricular offerings, from the performing arts and sport to leadership programs, overseas exchange and social justice opportunities.

We are very proud of our boarding history at Ascham, and since 1887 boarding at Ascham has created lifelong friendships within a very special community. The boarding houses are not an adjunct to the school; rather, they are the heart of the school. Boarding is a home away from home—a place where girls become confident learners, independent thinkers and caring individuals.

All Ascham girls are encouraged to develop into confident, independent, compassionate young women with a sense of purpose. We are united in our aim of furnishing our girls with the qualities necessary to make a significant difference in the world. To that end, our motto is Vi et animo—with heart and soul.
