IGSSA Athletes at the Commonwealth Games

April 2018

With the commencement of the Commonwealth Games,  we will be watching with interest a number of IGSSA athletes who have gone on to represent their country.
This includes Larissa Pasternatsky (ABB) in 200m (track and Field), you can watch Larissa in the heats on Tuesday 10th April.  Larissa left Abbotsleigh in 2009 and is currently the Abbotsleigh sprints coach.
Pymble has two past students representing Australia in the diving, Brittany O’Brien and Melissa Wu. Melissa is a triple Olympian and an official ambassador of the commonwealth games at just 25 years of age.  Melissa will be a great support to Brittany who will be competing in her first commonwealth games.
PLC Sydney have Kaitlin Nobbs (Class of 2015 and daughter of our former hockey convener Lee Capes) competing in the Australian hockey team and played in her debut game yesterday where Australia defeated Canada 1 – 0.
We also will be watching with great interest current Ravenswood student Tiffany Thomas Kane.  Tiffany is representing Australia in the swimming.  She finished 4th in the 50m butterfly final last night.  Tiffany will also compete in the 50m Freestyle next Tuesday and you can track her results below:
IGSSA are proud to have so many athletes competing for Australia at the Commonwealth Games.  I am lucky enough to be heading to the Gold Coast next weekend for the games and will endeavour to pass on best wishes to all our IGSSA representatives. I look forward to seeing many of you at the post season meetings next Tuesday for Tennis and Softball.
