Student makes history after 103 Years of Tildesley Tennis

After 103 years, in 2021, the first ever Year 7 student to take home a championship trophy was awarded to Meriden student Giselle Guillen.  Giselle, together with her partner Subeksha Suren Raj made Tildesley history as the partnership were awarded winners of the doubles trophy.

The pair played tremendously throughout the tournament, complimenting the other's strengths through a superior display of skill and team work.

This year's Tildesley Shield was challenged by severe rain that threatened the tournament finish without result.  However, the desire of students to play to the finish resulted in the support of schools adapting to conditions and allowing the tournament to be extended.  IGSA Sport thank Meriden for hosting the end of the singles rounds in their indoor facilities and all schools who were available to attend a fourth day of the tournament at Pennant Hills Park.  The commitment of schools to ensure the tournament was complete, demonstrates the enduring spirit of the Shield that has allowed the competition to survive and thrive over its 103 year history.

IGSA Sport congratulates all participants and the major trophy winners for 2021.
